Hi, its been awhile since I came back. I have a new problem on my gateway window 7 sp1 32 bit system. The problem occurs one day randomly. While the pc is loading in the “window starting up” screen with the microsoft log go on it, I can hear the harddrive restarting like 2-3 times while the power light remained on, then the screen freeze and I have to reboot it manually. The same problem will keep happening every time I restart until the window does “disc check” and repairs itself (Sometimes I got the harddrive failure notice in the screen and I had to ctrl alt delt to restart. Sometimes I get the option of try to repair system itself other than start window normally, but the same restarting problem happens during “loading window files”). After that I can then go back to my os system like before. However, this happens everytime I start up the computer. I am not sure if this is a virus problem or hardware problem. The attached files are my logs. Thank you very much for the help.
The fact that you are getting constant disk check runs at boot plus the HDD failure messages all point to the fact that your hard drive is failing. I would immediately copy all files you want to save to external medium; a USB drive, etc.
If you can get into device manager in either normal or safe mode, write the drive manufacturer and model number. Then from any PC, go to the manufacturer’s web site and download their bootable hard drive diagnostic tool. Boot from that and run first a quick scan. That should tell you if problems exist with the drive. If the drive is bad, it still might be under warranty; length of warranty depends on each manufacturer. You will have to contact the manufacturer on replacement procedures.
If your Gateway is still under warranty, I would start with their tech support.
