Cannot Turn on Windows Firewall on Guest Account?

Hi,

I was using my sister’s laptop (Windows Vista, 32-bit) tonight using the guest account and I noticed that her Avast 7 Internet Security’s firewall is not on. I tried clicking “turn on” but nothing happened. However, the weird thing is the firewall is turned on, on the administrator accounts. I’m wondering what’s going because I can’t figure it out… any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Sry I meant to say Avast 7 firewall, instead of window’s firewall.

My computer runs WinXP Home. The same problem is affecting my Avast Internet Security 7 (fully updated). I tried a new install. No result. It happens only whit the 2 Guest accounts.

At least a short message, something like “Ok, we are working to solve the problem”… :-X

Thanks for your help. Unfortunately the solution is not in that link. The Avast has been installed on a clean WinXP SP3

What does Clean mean ???
Reformat and only Windows XP installed or, the original installation was recreated ???

Reformat and Avast Internet Security 7 as first software installed.

How was the system installed ??? What did you use to install Windows XP SP3 ???

Strange question! :o Obviously with the WinXP SP 2 + SP 3 installer previously saved on my external drive

Not strange at all. I’m trying to find out if this is a brand new install of XP or, installed from a manufacturers restore partition.

a guest account is restricted and cannot make certain changes on the computer which includes turning the windows firewall on and off. except the administrator account gives you privileges to make the changes,it wont change.
