I have Avast home edition 6.7 running on windows vista (business italian version).
I cannont uninstall it, neither through the control panel, neither through the uninstall utility that I download from the site (it just does’t work and the utility freeze).
Av was the first and only AV installed on the OS.
What can I do?
Thanks.
Please, post the last 50-100 files of avast log files:
C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\DATA\log\Setup.log
C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\Setup\setup.log
OK
I’m not able to attach them because of their size which is bigger than the maxium allowed.
So here’re two links you can download them from.
www.lasceleira.com/temp/Setup.log
www.lasceleira.com/temp/setup2.log
thank’s for helping

These errors are shown only in Vista…
Can you check if you’re installing the last version 4.7.986?
My version is 4.7.942
I’ve just checked on the site that if you download the software clicking on the green download button, it stills “give you” the version I have.
So I can I get newest version you reffered. If I install that over mine, then will I be able to uninstall it?
Right click on the avast ‘a’ system tray icon, Updating, Program Update. That will do an incremental program update that shouldn’t take as long. No need to do anything else.
Strange… The official links for the English version of 4.7.986.
Follow David’s advice or download a full setup and run it.
No need to uninstall the previous. But, it won’t harm if:
- Uninstall avast from Control Panel first (if possible).
- Boot.
- Use Avast Uninstall for complete uninstallation.
- Boot.
- Install again 4.7.986.
Edited - as asked by Alwil team - to remove a direct link to avast download and allow the load balancing mechanism, which is using the files.avast.com as a link to all of Alwil download.
“Balanced” link is http://files.avast.com/iavs4pro/setupengpro.exe for the English version.
