I have Avast 5 free edition. Since yesterday, I could not update the engine and virus definitions and the program. I have been getting the message “http server returned error 307”. I think 307 means the page has been moved to another location? I tried reinstalling Avast and then trying to update again but the same error message comes up.
I also tried downloading manually the update files but when I try to install them, I get the error message below:
[b]Hi, I’m having a similar problem, however mine will start to update, and then stops and says Last encountered error: Package is broken. Total Time 6s
I’m sorry if I shouldn’t have posted this as a reply to this thread, but I thought since there was already a topic on this, I should post it here.
I’ve tried changing my update settings under the proxy tab to direct connection, but it still will not update.

Hi, SorceressEdea7! Try my solution, it should help you to fix your issue
[]First you have to uninstall your current, additional troublesome firewall-common cause of this issue (you don’t have to deactivate Windows Defender, it’s conflict-free!)
[] Then download from http://free.agnitum.com/trial-pay/ and install an Outpost Firewall Free 2009 6.5.1 (2725.10028) on your computer
That’s all you have to do!
PS After this process you have to reboot and then simply allow the Avast!'s 5.0.418 Free AVAST.SETUP component to connect by checking option “Allow all activities”, of course if you have chosen “Disable automatic rule creation” during an initial installation of Outpost Firewall Free 2009. If you haven’t, you won’t even have to worry about this. Henceforth Avast! 5.0.418 Free will be auto-updating the virus definitions, as well as current version of Avast! itself, if there’ll be such available, without any glitch.
Best regards to you!
