I have just downloaded the free home. I have a hurri virus in my boot file and a friend recomeded avast to remove it as I had no luck with any other scanner. When I restart and the scan begins it detects the hurri virus and then dll error 42003 in another file and then malware in another, it then stops and gives me options to choose to remove. When this happens my comp freezes and i have to shut off the power. When I restart and try to run a full scan I get an internal error that stops the scan. PLEASE CAN ANYONE HELP I HAVE TRIED 3 TIMES NOW.
I have a hurri virus in my boot fileThere is no such thing as a boot file. Booting a system (especially with Windows) involves hundreds of files.
Please provide more information.
What OS?
What file is detected as infected and what is the exact location?
What other problems do you have (if any)?
You are talking about a scan. Is this a system scan or a boot time scan?
What other security software do you have installed/are you using?
What have yoy tried sofar to solve it?
Just a thought, as this was something silly and simple that caught me out with Avast!’s boot scan many moons ago. I don’t even know if it is the same now.
However, if I remember, when the boot scan finds a problem, it’ ask´s for a number key to be pressed (depending on what you want to do with the problem). I found that the ‘numeric keypad’ on the keyboard didn’t do anything and the scan would just sit there doing nothing.
Try (if you haven’t already) using the number keys above the alphabet keys.
It might also be an old problem that was fixed in version 4.1.389 (April 21 2004) that has crept in again.
