Can't access public networks - avast 2014

Since the new update I can’t access public networks. Internet Explorer just won’t open, I get a message that the program is corrupted (if that is a correct translation).
On my home network everything works fine, no problems at all.

It’ the same problem I had with an earlier version of Avast 2014 – on every network, which I removed for that reason.

Can someone help me out please?

Avast! Online Security caused me the same trouble. Just for your reference.

Meaning someone came up with a solution in your topic, since you are writing about the problem in the past tense?
(Can’t seem to find it…)

I too have a problem accesing my ENTIRE network inter and intranets, i cannot log into my router.

it looks to me like maybe this is windows 7 sp1 related

as Tosnia has almost same os as me.

oh and im using 09.2008

my android phone with avast is working fine and so is my ipad (no antivirus yet…)

Forgot to mention: Windows 7 here as well, IE 10

My browser also is I.E.10 and I’m using it disabling “avast! online security” otherwise it takes too long time to open web pages.

But then your computer is unprotected?

I’m sticking to my home network for now, but hope the problem gets solved one of the following days…

Maybe it is less protected, but at least anti-virus function might be okay. At present, I’m using ver.8.0.1497 because updating to ver.2014 I can’t access web pages with Java applets, other pages without problem except the issue of the add-on “avast! online security”.

You may send Ticket to avast! support asking for their technical assistance. Good luck.

I was hoping the problem would solve itself after a few updates.
Thank you for answering anyway.

  • Updating from IE 10 to IE 11 hasn’t helped eather, gonna send a Ticket.

…still nothing.

And I dont use Internet explorer I use firefox.

It has nothing to do with the browser as I cant even access my router.

I just tried
control panel>Programs>Avast>Repair

it seems to be working for now. I’ll let you know if it reverts back when I shut down

Thank you for answering, hope your problem didn’t come back.

Repairing Avast didn’t work here, Internet Explorer is still not functioning on public networks.

To moderator:
-Please delete this error message. Sorry-
(When I clicked the REPLY bottom, this was sent out.)

I’ve got 2 responces from techsupport. They didn’t work out for me (the first one because I have no Avast firewall),but I want to share them anyway because it may be the solution for others with the same/simular problems. Good luck!!

Solution 1:

Please open your avast! and then follow these steps:

Avast! settings → Troubleshooting → Redirect Settings

under WEB pannel in field ‘Ignored addresses:’ add: localhost

then

Settings → Tool → Firewall → Customize → Policies → System Rules-> Allow Windows file and printer sharing check enabled

then

Settings → Tool → Firewall → Customize → Policies → Packet Rules-> Enable windows Networking in and out

Solution 2:

Please try to disable avast! add-on, for now. The security of your browser/pc will not be compromised.

Please do the following steps to remove Internet Explorer avast! add-ons:

a) Open Internet Explorer.

b) Click the Tools button, and then click Manage Add-ons.

c) Under Show, click Downloaded controls to display all avast! add-ons.

d) Click the avast! add-on you want to delete, and then click More information.

e) In the More Information dialog box, click Remove. If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

f) Repeat steps 4 and 5 for every add-on control you want to delete. When you are finished, click Close.

Still no solution.

Tech Support keeps quiet after refusing to use the new beta.
I hope they have not given up…

a: you’re not unprotected when you disable the browser online security plugin, just less privacy usage-tracking features will be enabled and you won’t see site reputation in google results etc. There’s currently an ongoing issue with AOS plugin and IE. Removing the plugin or using another browser seems the only solution (apart from updating to the beta) for now.

b: in my experience the firewall can be buggy in Avast 2014. I’ve removed it from the installation and use the default Windows firewall. You might consider doing the same if removing the browser plugin does not help.

Thank you for answering.
Disabeling the browser add-ons does not make a difference, I’ve tried.
There is no firewall in my version of Avast, I am already using Windows Firewall.

Si I am awaiting the solutions coming from the beta project.

My problem is resolved instaling 2014 R2 Beta 2014.9.0.2010 over 9.0.2008 and also it now works enabling avast! Online Security and avast! Ad Blocker.
Just for your reference.

The new 2014.0.9.2011 did’nt solved my problem either… :frowning:

Everything runs a lot smoother though.

Are other peoples problems solved?
