Can't access www.avast.com

Hi. First time poster, long time lurker. Let me start by saying I really like Avast! AV and recommend it to everyone I know.
My problem is I can’t seem to access www.avast.com. I use IE 7 and get ‘Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage’ message. I can view other sites (such as this one) but not the Avast homepage. I asked my friends who have different ISPs if they can access it and they can.
Can anyone help me figure this out? (I don’t want to use FireFox). Thanks in advance.

System:
Hp Pavilion dv9815nr
Vista Home Premium
Vista Firewall

The URL www.avast.com is taking forever to respond (when it does) right now with any browser I use. I assume this is a temporary problem with the hosting company that avast uses.

If the problem persists please report back.

Thanks for checking it out. I’m able to view it now

Currently no problems assessing avast.com even on my humble dial-up connection.

A.O.K. Here on my dialup !!!

Hi…

The link works fine here too. ???

You might want to install a different browser of your choice to see if this problem can be duplicated. If you can’t bring up the site with the other browser, then the problem lies with the networking components within the operating system (software.) Being unable to visit security and anti malware sites (especially to download) can be a sign of malware infection. Can you visit other antivirus sites with Internet Explorer such as…

(Whoops, the same post appeared here for some reason, must have clicked the wrong button. ;D)

I strongly doubt that there anything wrong with the OP’s browser or mine.

At the time the OP and I were looking www.avast.com was timing out and when accessed was incredibly slow in responding. The sluggishness of www.avast.com disappeared a few minutes later - as reported by the OP - I found the same but it seemed unnecessary to confirm the OP’s finding.

Hi…

Thanks, Alan, I was in a hurry so I didn’t notice the OP’s second post.
