Can't activate AV Pro

Hi all, I have a license key for Pro Antivirus which is still good. I was running Pro but decide to go back to free because a lot of the features in Pro were not working properly, Safezone, Sandbox never did work right. However now that Avast 8 seems to be an excellent I’ve decide to go back to Pro in anticipation of version 8’s release. This is the problem, I cannot figure out a way to get back to the Pro version. Tried downloading the Pro version but when I enter my key it says its the incorrect one. Tried going to registration in free version and click on insert the file but that just takes me to my documents library. So how do I enter my key and get back to Pro version? Thanks.

Nope, I want to activate version 7 which I have a code for.

  1. Download avast! Pro Antivirus: http://files.avast.com/iavs5x/avast_pro_antivirus_setup.exe
  2. Follow instructions: http://www.avast.com/uninstall-utility (Run this tool for all prior installed avast! versions…!!)
  3. Reinstall avast! with the downloaded installer from point 1.
  4. Reboot.

So I have to uninstall the free version? Cannot install over top? As I stated when I tried to install the Pro version it said my activation key was wrong. Uninstalling the free version will fix this?

Yes, a clean reinstall should fix it.

Well didn’t go well. Uninstalled ok but when I tried to reinstall pro version it did not work. First I tried to enter my key in the activation code area, entered all info but it wanted company info, I put “none” as it would not submit without something entered in that box. Did not work. Tried entering key into license file area, did not work either. Starting to be a real pain. Anything else I can try?

I’m thinking maybe I’ll just install version 8 and sort this out later as I’m without protection now. Where can I download it? Thanks.

Unfortunately nothing seems to work, I didn’t buy directly from Avast but from a reseller. Right now I am in trial mode for Pro version, I got 30 days, hopefully version 8 will be released by then, I’ll just have to go to free version 8. Thanks for your help.
