Can't Activate Avast! Home 4.8

Hi !

I have downloaded the last version of avast! home edition in spanish …

Is now installed, but it isnt working … When the system starts the ashdisp.exe (or something like that) displays a window that says:

No hay ningun numero de licencia.

When i double click the ashavast.exe gives me the same error, but now i can type my licence number, but it doesn’t matter what number i use, allways says the same thing, that is an invalid licence number:

Numero de licencia no valido.

I can take some screenshots if someone need, i cant do nothing, and the program is not running :S

Sorry for my bad english

Welcome to the forums, minimal.

First, try to do a repair of avast :

Control panel > Add/remove programs > click once on avast to select it > click on Change/Remove > scroll down the left pane and click on repair > click OK> follow directions.

Then, try to enter the number again. It is best to copy and paste the number in making sure no blank spaces are included.

Have you completed the registration and received your registration key email ?
Complete the avast! 4 Home Registration form and you will receive an email from register @ avast.com (without the spaces) with your registration key.

I have given a link to the Spanish language registration page.

As your first error says there is no license (registration) key and the second says it is invalid.

Have you entered that registration key ?
Q: “Invalid license number”. Why? http://www.avast.com/eng/faq-invalid-license-number.html
Or Insert Registration Key - Video

When i click in Change/Remove button, nothing happens …

I didn’t entered any registration key, and if i try to do that, it says it is invalid.

But did you check out both the links I gave relating to invalid key and how to insert the key (and was that how you inserted it) ?

However your answer to CharleyO is probably the root of the problem, as there would appear to have been a problem with the installation.

Have (or did) you another AV installed in this system, if so what was it and how did you get rid of it ?

If you previously had another AV it is essential it is uninstalled and ensure that no remnants are left behind, as that could effect the avast installation.

You could try a clean reinstall of avast clearing all of avast and try again, but I would say if you had a previous AV we need to ensure that it is removed.

Download the avast! Uninstall Utility, find it here and save it to your HDD.

    1. Now uninstall (using add remove programs, if you can’t do that start from the next step), reboot.- 2. run the avast! Uninstall Utility, reboot. If step 1 failed it may be necessary to run this from safe mode, once complete reboot into normal mode.- 3. install the latest avast version, reboot.

Please, post the last 300-350 lines of avast log: C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\DATA\log\Setup.log

DavidR yes i did check both links, but when i reboot after installing, the two icons of avast don’t show up in the corner of the task bar …

And i got this warning:

Here is attached my setup.log

And this line is from the notice.log

I also can’t activate the Home 4.8. I bought the product. I registered and got the confirmation e-mail. I clicked on the link and downloaded to the point where I got the “wizard” which gave me the only option of “Uninstall” and a box to continue or cancel. When I chose “cancel” the message said “Installation process cancelled”. I tried again. This time when I only got the “Uninstall” option I pressed “next” and was asked “Do you want to uninstall this programme?” No, I didn’t. I was given the option of a “pro Verify” or something download which had so many threats attached to it about buying within a certain time, that I just dumped it. I went to your forum and saw a similar complaint. I went to the control panel and pressed the “repair” button and was told the product had been updated. I have at no time been asked to insert my licence number, nor have I been asked to restart my computer to activate it. What is going on here? I’m very disappointed with my purchase. I have only paid for renewal for one year and I’m glad I did not pay for more - this is a lot of money for me, and I would not want to lose it. Can you find out and confirm that my purchased product has been installed? Should I put my licence number here for you to check?

I suggest an installation from the scratch:

  1. Uninstall avast from Control Panel first.
  2. Boot.
  3. Download the latest version of Avast Uninstall and use it for complete uninstallation.
  4. Boot.
  5. Install again the latest avast! version.
  6. Boot.
  7. Check and post the results.

Please take a look here: http://www.avast.com/eng/faq-invalid-license-number.html

Can you try to repair your installation?
Go to Control Panel > Add/Remove programs > avast! antivirus > Remove. Then choose Repair function in the popup window (Repair).
If this does not help, can you uninstall / boot / install / boot again?

No, you could inform it to sales@avast.com

Many thanks. Followed your instructions and now everything is up and running.

Glad to know
