So I had a number call, someone I dont know nor care to, that got past my phones setting to restrict calling to my contacts. I went in to my Avat mobile and tried to add the number to a “SMS and Call filter” to block it (Add A New Group Number—> Choose From Call Log), it stops Avast and I get a warning stating:
“The application avast! Mobile Security (process com.avast.android.mobilesecurity) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again.” …and I have to pull my battery and restart my phone. My phone is not unlocked nor jailbroken in any form.
What is this error and how serious does it reflect on avast! operations running on my phone? Or am I just bad with the search tool and its dicussed elsewhere?
There… now lets focus on the real issue instead of something that doesnt have to do with this.
BTW… when an illicit texte’r sends you a text that is nothing more than maleware and its gets through… the ONLY way to insure it does not fully install is to remove the battery while the phone is on. This is advice CONSTANTLY given; as many texts CAN and WILL install maleware without ANY showings of doing so, over our local news stations… like when last years WalMart texting scam went out for $50 coupons.
This problem occured BEFORE any pulling of the battery.
So why cant I add numbers from my ‘call log’ or ‘contacts’ to the SMS/Call filter and why does it crash Avast?
What is blocking Avast from viewing my CONTACTS or CALL LOG?
if you want us to look at the crash, reproduce the problem, go to Settings-About-Send feedback, tick all the checkboxes, put some description in and send the feedback. After receiving an email from our support system, post the ticket ID here and I will take a look at it.
Just wanted to say that I tried this route and it left Avast closing repeatedly, even when not in the SMS/Call Filter blocking side of Avast. Taking my battery out seems to be the ONLY garuntee to keep Avast running without closing.
Alright…
I sent it . The description starts out CRASH FROM FORUM to help identify and have more details to put together.
Thanks for looking into this one. Lemme know if it doesnt come through as my phone is starting to be ‘not-so-smart’ again.
Its wierd becuase yesterday I could view CALL LOG from the SMS/Call filter block selection but sometime between yesterday and today it changed.
So when do you look at it? When do you let me, the troubleshooter, identify what the problem is?
I can say Im exctatic over the new survey’s, so long as they are independent. Im sorry to touch on a sore spot but its about time for the PROFESSIONALS at Avast! to offer PROFESSIONAL grade support BY PHONE. This time just do a bit more research before choposing a fulfillment organization as iYogi was like hiring ID theifs directly AND then Avast! offers them the ability to REMOTE support our “protected PC’s”.
You guys are suffering the same problem Sony suffers… GREAT AND THE TOP NOTCH PRODUCT/SERVICE - JUST DONT EXPECT ANY TYPE OF CONSIDERATE, CONSUMER BASED SUPPORT.
That additude may get you some bucks along the way but a company who is aimed at ONLY the dollar they can make versus understanding the POCKET THAT DOLLAR COMES FROM garuntees simplistic karmic reaction(s).
Iv got an email telling me to come to this thread to see how this is being discussed since sending crash reports but there was NO NEW conversations… even to say Avast! is looking into things.
Well… you can guess how the survey went buba. >:(
If you need a new BUG REPORT… the problem is EASILY AND CONSTANTLY duplicatable so just ask.
There is more to this problem that I have discovered.
THIS IS WITHOUT REMOVING THE BATTERY UPON FAULT.
Once the problem occurs, giving me the message that the Avast! was forced to close, it ‘appears’ to restart after I hit okay. It then asks IMMEADITALY for me to enter my PIN. After entering my PIN I have went to try and submit the bug report as per your instrcutions:
It allows me to enter the SETINGS menu; however the ABOUT selection is greyed out and does nothing when selected. It cannot be utilzed UNTIL I remove my battery, simply powering down the device is in-effective. So I cant send a bug report without removing the battery; this may be preventing the feedback feature from sending appropriate information.
Just wondering; maybe a method to insure an EXPLOIT is not sent to you through he feedback feature has been implemented. In this case; I would again look IN-HOUSE then to the Android Play Community DIRECTLY involved with Avast! But Im not you guys so I can only trust the right investigation will occur. If I can do ANYTHING to help uncover what is happening on my device; please let me know. 8)
Okay… at this point I cant help but feel Im only doing some debugging for an illicit user. Now, even though yesterday and this morning no matter how hard I tried I could not submit a bug/crash report unless I removed the battery after this ‘crash’, I can access the ABOUT and submit feedback… in other words, after posting the above information; things changed.
Anymore information I can provide will be forthwith.
Here is the crash report I was able to finally submit without removing my battery:
GKL-468-16599
Feel free to combine all other tickets relating to this into one single ticket (IE #ZPO-274-19071; BOG-665-83459) . I have only submitted this report more than once to try and give as much relvant information as possible.
If Avast is crashing there should be something there right? Is there a particular 'less provocative interrupt that would not record on a crash?
Its apparent something is wrong, as when I first install it from my phone (and only when its had a FULL FACTORY RESET) things work fine and I can even add from my CONTACTS. After maybe a couple hours I start with the current issues. One thing I will try is resetting the phone (HARD FACTORY THROUGH SAFE MODE) and installing the APK file WITHOUT using Google Play to download it. That can help separate another issue from this one.`
What other things can I proceed with to help you un-cover the problem?
BTW… Im entirely honest in the 2nd part of my signature and I deal with ‘different exploits’ all the time. Right now, Im chasing down an exploitation of Playstation data that has valid keys (released recently via 3 Musketeers), while the PS3 recognizes the data as ‘corrupt’ it still changes and is accessed (via the date on the file information screen)… my guess is a remote connection app that was being traded and discussed when the private PS keys were released but has went DEAD SILENT as of late.
Most PC exploits Iv been left to my own devices to deal with even after coming here, now I have to say the forums really seem to be about the consumer again. GREAT JOB GUYS AND THANK YOU!!!
