Can't boot Windows Vista - aswVmm.sys is missing or corrupted - help please!

essexboy I cant get your links working. Please Help…Links not working < 2. Windows Vista RC > any help would be appreciated. I went through the other post but the links are not working…

Unfortunately the download I linked to has changed so I will need to relocate them. I did host them on my dropbox until I exceeded my bandwidth of 20Gb per day. Do you have access to another Vista system as we could use that to create a repair disc

 yes i do…Please help…

Instructions and download here http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/141820-create-recovery-disc.html

When you boot the computer immediately press and hold F8, does a menu appear ?
If so is there a command prompt option ?
Does the command prompt option open ?

If so then download the correct version of FRST to a USB
Insert the USB
Boot to the command prompt

At the command prompt type the following :

notepad and press Enter.
The notepad opens. Under File menu select Open.
Select “Computer” and find your flash drive letter and close the notepad.
In the command window type e:\frst64.exe and press Enter (or FRST if 32bit)
Note: Replace letter e with the drive letter of your flash drive.
The tool will start to run.
When the tool opens click Yes to disclaimer.

Press Scan button.
It will make a log (FRST.txt) on the flash drive. Please copy and paste it to your reply.
