Can't change search settings/Make a custom scan

I can “create” a custom scan, but none of the changes save. Help plz.

For a repair of avast. Windows, Add Remove programs, select ‘avast! Anti-Virus,’ click the Change/Remove button from the pop-up window, scroll down to Repair, click next and follow.

You need to click “OK” in avast to save changes. If you simply close the GUI after the changes, they are not saved.
