Im using windows 10 and just realized that avast free is active and updated but when I go to security center it shows two antivirus avast and windows defender.
I can’t enable or disable anything from there. I tried disabling windows defender so perhaps it will automatically enable avast but it doesnt help.
When I open avast interface it shows it is enabled, but the system is choosing windows defender as default and cant change that from the security center.
What can I do please, thanks.
Its not that Defender is default, Avast is still running in this case. Microsoft is heavily promoting defender lately. You should be able to disable the Windows defender service if you want to see it stop

This can be changed in the settings and also turned OFF.
Simply open Settings (Windows key and I ) type Defender in the search bar:
