Hello.I’m using Avast Free v12.2.2276 build 12.2.3126.2, virus definitons 160812-1 on a windows 10 pc. It detected a virus Windows\twain_32\kodak\kids_aio5000\twaingui.exe. It won"t let me clean or quarantine the file. I get no response after clicking apply with the target highlighted. I do have a Kodak aio printer networked in, so I suspect it is a false positive. Any help or guidance is greatly appreciated. Thanks
What was the name of the Virus (I have deliberately used that word) detected ?
Only true viruses can actually be cleaned as only a small piece of code is injected into the file. To clean it avast has to remove just that injected part and leave the remainder of the file.
Malware however, is all malicious and as such can’t be cleaned.
Why it can’t be moved to the virus chest (quarantine), are you getting an error, if so what ?
If you can access the file without avast alerting you could try uploading it to https://www.virustotal.com/ for scanning.
