Hi, whenever I try to click on settings in Avast Online Security, nothing happens. Using Firefox 27.0.1. Tried disabling all plugins (excl. AOS) and still nothing. Help?
The “avast online security” add-on doesn’t seem to work with FF v27.
To be truthful the AOS has been nothing short of a headache.
What most have done is either disable the AOS in their browsers or
uninstall it completely. You can safely do either without compromising your
protection since the real protection is provided by the resident shields.
To uninstall…Control Panel>Uninstall a Program>double click “avast”>click “change”>untick “browser protection”>reboot
FYI I don’t have the AOS/Browser Protection installed at all. You get basically the
same thing by using PrivDog. PrivDog is
much more stable than AOS.
Ok, if you really want the extension in Firefox, I found a Fix.
1 - Search for firefox 26 and Download it.
2 - Uninstall firefox but choose to keep all your data.
3 - Install v26.
4 - Let it open, close it. And open it again.
5 - Make your changes to Avast extension.
6 - Update firefox to the latest version.
Keep in mind that when you update firefox, you cannot access avast extension settings again. But they will be saved from the previous version.
Just found this problem with the AOS Settings being unavailable in FireFox 27.0.1 after the horrible Safe Price plugin from AOS somehow got enabled! Didn’t even know about that Safe Price plugin before now, never seen it appear in any of my browsing until today but now I can’t disable it because it seems the AOS plugin doesn’t work correctly in FireFox 27.0.1.
Did some checking though to see what I could find out about this. Seems that FireFox 27.0.1 was first offered to release channel users on February 13, 2014 and avast! Online Security 9.0.2013.75 was updated on 20 February 2014. So, based on the fact that I wasn’t seeing that Safe Price banner appear until today, I’d guess the problem is with the AOS plugin itself!
