My computer’s been infected with the Google virus, which basically redirects all my searches to irrelevant sites and makes my browser run extremely slowly.
I’m trying to install Combofix in order to remove it, but can’t get Avast to exit/stop running completely in order to do so. From what I’ve read, Combofix is a tricky program and I don’t want to compromise my system by installing it incorrectly.
I know it’s been asked before, but haven’t been able to find any clear answers - is there ANY way to completely exit Avast so I can install this program? Or - as other users suggested - will I have to uninstall Avast each time I need to close it?
avast could be exited by the system tray icon (avast! shields control).
I suggest:
Clean your temporary files.
Schedule a boot time scanning with avast with archive scanning turned on. If avast does not detect it, you can try DrWeb CureIT! instead.
Use MBAM (or SUPERantispyware or even Spyware Terminator) to scan for spywares and trojans. If any infection is detected, it is better and safer to send the infected file(s) to quarantine (Chest), rather than simply deleting them.
