Computer specs:
Windows 7 64bit
Outlook 2010
Avast version 8.0.1497
I have been using Avast with no problem until this point. I’ve added a new IMAP account that uses SSL. Now, each time I open Outlook, Avast reports that the server’s certificate is invalid. I trust the source of certificate, it’s my university, so I would normally just make an exception but Avast won’t allow me to click “Confirm security exception”.
I have tried clicking View and adding the server certificate manually but that doesn’t seem to change anything. The only way for Outlook to access the server is for me to temporarily disable the Mail Shield in avast. When I do, there is no warning and I can download the email without difficulty.
I have been having the same problems with Avast on my computer. I’m running windows 7, trying to d/l from comcast.net to my thunderbird email client. it won’t d/l or send either. I can’t even manage my email from Comcast.net on the web. I can read it but not delete unwanted emails.
I will never understand in today’s day and age why people still use pop email. Web based email is safer and faster. My cousin checks his email via Comcast.net and has no issues. Avast version 8.0.1497
