cant connect to ps3 media server after upgrade

ok so everything was working fine until i updated avast to latest version since i had a very old version on my pc like version 5 then updated to version 7 something disabled pms from finding my Tv and my ps3 i tried excluding from sandbox no luck i added pms to every exclusion i can think of in the program any ideas?

Are you getting any errors displayed ?

What is pms ?

Looks like latest version of avast is garbage they need to fix it blocks ports on free edition lame I reverted to version 6

Well reversion is hardly likely to help anyone fix what you aren’t prepared to help with.

I uninstalled avast completely works fine now will have to use Comoros till its fixed

if u want a fix, u have got to help Avast developers solve it by providing relevant details such as ur OS, Avast version, perhaps the general support package…and whatever they request of u to provide…do not expect any antivirus to always work with the infinite programmes in the world.

Os is Windows 7 x64 version latest im not the only one having problems with this avast ruined connectivity to ps3 media server i went back to 6 and it was all good then seems the latest blocks ports somehow but i dont know how its doing it

I’m also having problems.

OS: Windows 7 64 Bit
Avast 7: Free Edition Up-to-date program & Virus Database
Gigabyte PCIe Controller / Netgear 150MBps Router

Worked ok previously, updated avast, now it doesnt see any media servers though im sharing all my files ohh and it let a virus in my pc :). Nice job boys

I have managed to fix this, i know have a working media server with Avast 7.

  • Ensure all your settings are the same and enabled
  • Make sure devices are still allowed access and discorvered (Check MAC ADDRESS)
  • Through WMP, >Stream >Turn on Media Streaming
  • If all else fails >Start > Search “Services”> Services (Cogs Icon)> At the bottom of this window> Windows Media Player Network Sharing Service (Automatic)

If the WMPNSS is set to “Automatic Delayed”, change this to “Automatic”.

Tested with my Windows Phone 7 at first and i found the Media Server once again, turned on my PS3 and presto…It found my server again.

Hope this helps, even turning the service off and enabling it all again and the thing with the “Services” should work
