Beginning with macOS Sierra (and now in High Sierra), I am unable to COPY files between two locations WITHIN a connected network share if Avast is enabled (NOTE: I can copy TO or FROM the share). When I try to copy a file, I get a ‘file in use’ error (and it’s with ANY file I try to copy). If I disable Avast, the issue disappears. I tried adding the network share to the ‘Excluded Paths’ list but that didn’t work.
I did not have this issue when El Capitan was installed.
Hello,
Thank you for reporting this. Could you provide us more information regarding the issue? We have already received one report about this a while ago but we have not been able to replicate it, as the reporter went silent:
is the issue occurring when the computer that has Avast installed shares a directory (is a server) or when your computer that has Avast installed connects to a remote share (is a client)? Or is Avast present on both of these computers?
what are the OSes of the server and client computers?
which type of share are we talking about? SMB, NFS, AFP?
How do you perform the copy?
Can the issue be replicated reliably or does it only fail randomly?
