When Avast Mac Security Web Shield (may be the same with File Shield) puts up an alert, I’ve run into two problems:
It’s just a graphic–there doesn’t appear to be any way to copy the text from it for follow-up.
Even if I attempt to copy it as a graphic and then use OCR to get the text, this doesn’t work because the size of the window is fixed and only a portion of the text appears before being cut off by the right side.
Is there a solution for either of the above problems?

Whilst I don’t use the MAC version of Avast - I suspect that the alert window has an option to show details (as it does in the Windows version) - choosing that option expands the information given in the popup alert. You can now take a screenshot of that Alert Window with the details view and attach it to your next post
Nope–because the right side of the window cuts off most of the text–and the window can’t be expanded.
Sorry, that is all I could think of not being an Avast MAC Security program user. Whilst the Avast Alert Window isn’t user resizeable it does expand to show the details section.
Hopefully someone form the Avast Team or another Avast MAC Security program can give some input.

Currently it is not really possible to obtain this information. While for fileshield we write similar information into a log, for webshield (due to privacy concerns) we do not log it by default.
We will improve the GUI so that the relevant info can be copied out in one of the future versions.
