:-\I have tried, unsuccessfully, to enter the key I received in an email. I’ve run into a no. of problems. One. I know I downloaded the free home version, but yet in the interface, I keep getting the message that I only have so many days left. Two. When I try to follow instructions to enter the registration key, I keep getting the message that I cannot Switch to the Advanced User Interface. The message, Sorry, this feature is available only in avast !Professional Edition.
I was also instructed to log out and re-log back in as administrator without putting in a password, but when I tried to do so, I got the message that I couldn’t .
What could be the problem, and how can I get the key registered so I won’t keep getting the message saying my trial period is only so many days?
You appearently filled in the form for avast 3, not 4. Therefore, the mail you got contains instructions on how to insert the key in avast v3 which is very different from how you do it in v4.
To enter the activation key in v4, just go to the About dialog, and press the Registration button.

In trying to enter my license key the channel provided for the entry will not accept capital letters.
In trying the cut-and-paste method I have followed directions very carefully - still no success.
I have tried this for three days without success.
I would like to cancel the purchase of the Professional Edition which has been charged to my credit card.
Please contact me with confirmation that the charge made on August 28, 2008 for the purchase can be made.
