Hi All,
I know a similar question has been asked to this B4!
I am having an issue with this NEW version of Avast
Premium Security.
Program Version: 21.10.2498(build 21.10.6772.706)
UI Version 1.0.679
I have installed a new program on my PC.
I want it blocked from going onto the internet.
I want it BLOCKED from using IN OUT
In the Application Rules settings the program that I have just installed is NOT in the list of installed programs.
I do not see an option to:
Add New Rule which then opens up an Explorer to let you navigate to the program which you have just installed, and add it to the list, then add the rule you want applying to the program.
Am I missing something here?
My settings for Avast program access to the internet are set as:
Menu>Settings>Protection>Firewall>SMART MODE.
I would like them kept to this setting !
If I run my program it will go on the list and it will also go on the internet
Which is too late then !!
The only way I can see that you can prevent the program from going online is to change Menu>Settings>Protection>Firewall>SMART MODE
To either ASK or BLOCK
This is very time wasting…
I liked the old GUI.
Why mess with something if it’s not broken? >:(
Asyn,
This link, gives advise mainly on the classic version of Avast.
Yes, there are smatterings of advice on the new GUI.
I found no help to my question in this link.
Any other more informative links are welcome?
I do suspect I answered my own question in
the last paragraph of my first post!
Hi, there are two tabs in the article (screenshot), select “NEW FIREWALL”.
Thank You Asyn,
And thanks for the other link, I have read it.
The point I was trying to get across to the reader was.
The old version allowed you to set the rules before the application or process had started.
This new version has only the option to create the rule after the application or process has started,
Unless you do what, I said in the last paragraph of my earlier post.
If I am correct in what I have said?
Then I don’t find this an enhancement!
But a step backward in the improving of the development of the software.
I will send Feedback to Avast,
on this point, for what it’s worth?
You’re welcome.
Thank You,Asyn,
& Thank you for the chat about this issue.
IT’S INCREDIBLE but real … but it seems that the software developers have made this change, [b] with the intention of harming [/ b] instead of helping their users … !!! dangerous considering that it is a company that is dedicated to security. I don’t know if the comment> I had never commented on this forum … I had not had the need, and what’s more, I recommended this product to many acquaintances but I feel very attacked wit this changue.
?? ???

I no work for avast, even uninstalled it
But your request block a software before its 1st use… it sound like keygen user
Maybe Avast did it to no facilitate the use of keygens/activators
I do not know what AVAST wanted to do with this change, but I suspect that it was not done with good intentions … it is undoubted that it knows how to adapt well to the times that run and then it restricts you and takes away your freedoms … ¿ or it could be that they are so noble … who ensure the safety of those who do not pay them for the service? we will be poor but not stupid In any case Leo 3487, thanks for advising me to uninstall AVAST with your example … I’ll see what I do later.
