Cant get Avast to update on my Vista system

Using the Home edition of Avast 4.7.942 on my laptop running Vista Enterprise and my laptop is connected to my SBS 2003 network (for home use  ) that has ISA 2004 installed.

I also have another desktop running Avast 4.7.942 with XP Pro SP2 connecting through the same SBS and ISA server.

The XP Install updates just fine. The Vista install will not update at all.

Both have the SBS firewall client installed and both Avast installs are using the same Proxy settings (using IE settings).

From what I can see the Vista install appears to be making it as far as ISA and being denied because of authentication reasons. Also, When I go into the program settings and try to run a test connection the dialog box will not show up on the regular desktop, it insists on showing up on the alternate desktop through the Interactive Services screen.

As I said I have the feeling that Avast is running under a non-admin context and thus its attempts to talk through the firewall are being denied.

Anyone here have any ideas?

I have the same problem:
Avast Home 4.7.942, vista Ultimate x64 English with italian language pack. The PC is in a windows 2003 domain (non SBS), it can connect the Internet via a Cisco IOS router/firewall (no blocking rules for outgoing connections).

Avast asks the user to update, but nothing happens after the user confirmation.

I am not as versed in Windows, but Iโ€™ve isolated a problem after loading Avast on a Vaio SZ + Vista. The machine will issue a blue memory-dump screen trying to boot. I canโ€™t get Windows to boot nicely with Avast aboard.

Is this a known problem?

Is there a patch or something?

Please, go to folder \windows\minidump and send the newest (recent) .mdmp files for analysis.
Better if you can compress (zip) them and add some information about the BSOD and the link for this thread.

Send an email to any of these addresses:
vlk (at) avast.com
rypacek (at) asw.cz

Or upload to the any of these anonymous ftp servers:
ftp://ftp.asw.cz/incoming
ftp://www2.asw.cz/incoming

Also, check the folder \data\log
Are there any files called unpXXXX there (where XXXX is a random number)?
If so, send them to vlk (at) avast.com
They may contain more information about the problem (maybe a link to this thread).
