Cant get onto internet

I just installed avast home edition v4.7and cant get onto the internet without diabling avast. I have not a clue as to how to run this program. Can anyone help me? I need plain English without technical stuff. My knowledge is basic. THANKS!

Which firewall do you use?

Into the firewall settings, the following programs should be allowed to connect:

C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\ashWebSv.exe (avast! Web Scanner)
C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\ashMaiSv.exe (avast! e-Mail Scanner Service)
C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\Setup\avast.setup (avast! Update executable). This is a temporary file that just appears when an update (check) is about to launch, and disappears again afterwards.

Specially, ashwebsv.exe is related to internet…

It sounds like your firewall is blocking the web shield, see below.

You don’t have to disable avast completely, just Terminate the the web shield provider, Right click the avast ‘a’ icon, select On-Access Protection Control, click the Details button, select the Web Shield icon and then click the Terminate button. This leaves the rest of avast active and protecting you and just resolves the internet problem, certainly until you resolve the firewall blocking below.

What is your firewall ?
Does it allow ashWebSv.exe internet access ?

If it does delete the entry for it and reconnect to the internet, this will force the firewall to ask permission again.
