THANKS FOR YOUR TIME

Hi InFESTeD,

First of all, you only want one firewall on your computer. I suggest you stick with the free version of Zona Alarm.

I suggest you get rid of Spyware Doctor (because it’s not free) and also Advanced Spyware Remover (because it’s unproven).

Download this free anti-Trojan program:

a-Squared http://www.emsisoft.com/en/

Install and update a-Squared. and also update Spybot and Ad-Aware.

Boot into safe mode:

http://www.pchell.com/support/safemode.shtml

Run scans with all three programs.

See if that helps.

Two firewalls, like two resident anti-virus programs aren’t recommended as they may conflict.

There is obviously something loading it into memory, can you post the full details of the detection, check the avast log viewer, warnings section, it should contain more information. This will hopefully help detect the true file causing the problem.

If you haven’t already got this software (freeware), download, install, update and run it, preferably in safe mode. a-Squared free

I suggest you check out http://www.spywarewarrior.com/rogue_anti-spyware.htm as is listed on the listing (and bookmark it for the future if you are considering a anti-spyware program), but ensure you have the latest version, see Note below - personally I’m a once bitten twice shy advocate and I think with your other anti-spyware programs you should be covered.

Note on Advanced Spyware Remover: Advanced Spyware Remover was listed on this page because of concerns with false positives. Testing with the latest version of Advanced Spyware Remover indicates that the problems with earlier versions have been satisfactorily resolved. Thus, we can no longer consider Advanced Spyware Remover to be "rogue/suspect" anti-spyware.

This is another tool for the armoury but not until you are in the clear Spywareblaster Don’t install this until you are clean.

When I scan with avast! it gets a problem saying the memory or somethign has a bug and it closes

What is the exact error message?

Here…I took 2 pictures so you could understand easily the error I’m getting.

http://img329.imageshack.us/img329/3171/avasteror4dr.png
This is the error message I get after the memory check finishes.

http://img103.imageshack.us/img103/5993/avasteror26ei.png

This is the error message I get after the first one.

Im also trying to avoid formatting the computer because it would be the 4-5 time in 3 moinths and the second in 2 weeks.

This virus is really bugging me

I forgot to say this before: Everytime i start my pc it says that SHLDDR.OCX or soemthing like that is missing(in MS-DOS mode). and then it tells you to press any key to continue.

Question:

If avast!Home edition 4.7 detects and recognizes the virus…why can’t it delete it? Is it because the virus duplicates everytime?

And also…I would like to thank you for your help

Are there any unpXXXXXXX files (X are some numbers) in your \Data\Log folder?

No. There are these files:

Ahswebsv.ws
aswMaiSv.ws
aswMaisv.ori
AvCommEx(Text File)
Notice.log
setup.log
warning.log

Hello InFESTed,

You have to get this update here, read this: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/q275609/
Furthermore you’re advised to get the latest Java version.

Download smitRem.exe (you can download the latest version from here: http://noahdfear.geekstogo.com/click%20counter/click.php?id=1 ), and save the file to your desktop.
Double click on the file to extract it to it’s own folder on the desktop.
Open the smitRem folder, then double click the RunThis.bat file to start the tool. Follow the prompts on screen. Your desktop and icons will disappear and then reappear again — this is normal.
Wait for the tool to complete and Disk Cleanup to finish — this may take a while; please be patient.

Delete Temp Files:
To clean out your temp files, click on Start and then run, and type %temp% and press the ok button.
This should open up the temp directory that your machine uses. Please delete all files that are found there.

Delete Temporary Internet Files:
Now I want you to open up Internet Explorer, and click on the Tools menu and then Internet Options. At the General tab, which should be the first tab you are currently on, click on the Delete Files button and put a checkmark in Delete offline content. Then press the OK button. This may take quite a while, so do not be alarmed with how long it takes. When it is done, your Temporary Internet Files will now be deleted.

Make sure you empty your recycle bin.

Scan again with your AV

polonus

Polonus I’m sorry I’m asking this question but on the first site you provided me with ,where do I have to go?

I think polonus is saying that you should get the latest version of Java go to this page and download JRE6 beta http://java.sun.com/javase/6/download.jsp and remove all versions of java before installing. To update MSVM visit windows update and select custom updates

Thanks essexboy.

Im sorry im causing you troubles. I go on the site you gave me,then I press on “Download JRE6 Beta”. It takes about 1 minute too load and it shows you the’Page cannot be displayed’ page. What should I do?

I don’t know why Avast! keeps telling me the the memory is infected and who it won’t scan.can you help?

 • I did what you told me except fro mdownloading Java JRE 6 because it displays the ‘cannot find server’ page

 Hi InFESTed :

A "Dialer" is more a "spyware" than it is a "virus"; I think
you should seek advise on the Spybot forums at :
http://forums.spybot.info or the "unofficial" Ad-Aware
forums at www.landzdown.com .

P.S. Essexboy's link to java was incorrect; it was to the
"Standard" Edition, not the latest "Special" Edition, which
is www.java.com/en .

If you haven’t already got this software (freeware), download, install, update and run it.

 1. Ad-Aware
 2. Spybot Search and Destroy
 3. Spywareblaster Don’t install this until you are clean.

My apologies I did not notice you had win 98, jre 1.6 will not work for that version and I can not find a link for the older version yet. OK found an old version here http://www.oldversion.com/program.php?n=java use 1.42

Thanks spiritsongs,

And again when I try to download Java it takes me to the ‘cannot find server’ page.

Thanks for the links!

Have you tried running the tool that Polonus recommended?

http://noahdfear.geekstogo.com/click%20counter/click.php?id=1

Yes, of course. And again the java site won’t work.It says the page cannoit be displayed and avast is still not working :frowning:
