I really need help. I have the Win32: Trojan(gen) and can’t get rid of it. I ran Avast and moved everything to the chest but I still have pop-ups and my computer is running really slow. I ran a log on HijackThis which is below. Can someone please let me know what I need to get rid of? Please make it as simple as possible, I don’t understand a lot of computer terminology. Thanks!

Download these programs, install them, update and then do scan your computer using those Antispyware:
Malwarebytes Antimalware: http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php
SUPERAntiSpyware: http://www.superantispyware.com/
Spybot S&D: http://www.spybot.info/
after install and update those programs I think it’s better if you go and scan in safe mode.
in your HijackThis log, there are something bad, but I think those scanners would fix your problems, after scan and fix the problems please send another Hijackthis log fine to fix remaining keys manually

We didn’t detect any active process of a firewall on your system. Reasons maybe:
(1.) You are using the windows firewall or a hardware firewall.
(2.) You are using a firewall of an unknown vendor.
(3.) You are using a firewall, but for unknown reasons it is disabled
(4.) You don’t use any firewall at all.
We recommend you to use a firewall.

I downloaded and ran Malwarebytes, SUPERAntiSpyware, and Spybot S&D. They removed a bunch of items and I also went back into HijackThis and ran another scan. I fixed the items that CharleyO found in the first log that got missed by the 3 programs.
I also fixed the firewall problem. After I ran all of these programs I found out my firewall was disabled as well as my automatic updates. They have now been restored. I ran a third HijackThis and the log is below. Is there anything else I need to get rid of?
Thanks for all of the help!

A much better HJT log but still one more to fix. It was in the other HJT log but I forgot to include it and I am sorry for that.

This is an old trojan that avast should be able to take care of. I suggest that you run a boot time scan with avast.
Right click the “a” ball in the tray > select Start avast! antivirus > when the user interface loads, right click near the top left of the interface > select Schedule boot-time scan > be sure Scan all local disks is marked > click Schedule button and follow directions.
Please post back the results.

OK … a much better HJT log this time. The only thing shown is the firewall not running but that will happen if you are using Windows firewall.
So, is your computer running better now?
Yes it’s running much better! Thank you for all of the help Do you recommend I use Windows firewall or Avast? If I turn the Windows one off, will the Avast firewall turn itself back on?
avast currently doesn’t have a firewall.
Any malware that manages to get past your defences will have free reign to connect to the internet to either download more of the same, pass your personal data (sensitive or otherwise, user names, passwords, keylogger retrieved data, etc.) or open a backdoor to your computer, so outbound protection is essential.
There are many freeware firewalls such as, Comodo (care required now it is a suite not to install the anti-virus element), PCTools Firewall Plus, Online Armor and recently released, Outpost Firewall free 6.5 (2009), etc.
See A Forum discussion on free firewalls http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=30808.0
See http://www.matousec.com/projects/firewall-challenge/results.php .
Many forum users are using all of the above:
PC Tools Firewall seems to have the least user headaches as it doesn’t seem to be constantly asking the user questions about this and that.
I think you can see by my comments on Zone Alarm free you have to be careful that you are not using the pro trial version.
Online Armor for the most parts fine but it has caused some users grief after avast program updates and that is something you have to watch out for.
Comodo is now a suite and you have to do a custom install so as not to install the antivirus element, of all the firewalls listed this seems to be the noisiest in asking questions, depending on settings and elements used, so it could be daunting for those not to familiar with firewalls or their systems.
Outpost Firewal 2009 free, a cut down version of the Outpost Firewall Pro version, which should still provide good protection, http://free.agnitum.com/ . Download, http://www.filehippo.com/download_outpost_firewall/
You are welcome, KLC123 … glad to have helped.
Follow David’s advice on firewalls and be sure to continue using avast regardless of what firewall you use.
