Did you try avast before (trial version)?
Did you have any other antivirus in the computer in the past? How did you remove it?
yeah…i had mccafee that came with computer. used add/remove to take it out.
i also ccleaner to clean up the registry.

I use the Histories … Old Start Menu items and Clean StreamMRU/Stream keys and after few days I delete the Backups.
