Can't install/uninstall avast

I downloaded avast, installed it, and was prompted to restart my PC. I tried opening avast, but I couldn’t actually find the install files anywhere, and searching windows for it only returned the avast.exe which wouldn’t work. So I restarted my PC and it still wasn’t installed. I went to download it and install it again, now I’m getting this error:

“avast! installer cannot continue because the last avast! operation wass performed without restarting. Please reboot your computer first then run the installer again.”

I did this twice and still the same error. Here is the log file that was generated:

  1. Download avast! Free Antivirus: http://files.avast.com/iavs9x/avast_free_antivirus_setup.exe
  2. Follow instructions: http://www.avast.com/uninstall-utility (Run this tool for all prior installed avast! versions…!!)
