Can't install

When I try to install i get a message that says “Avast cannot be installed into the folder you entered.(the path is invalid).”

I haven’t chosen a folder or a path! All I did was hit the “install” button. So how can I correct a folder or path I didn’t make and cant find??

I give up!

The instructions for the uninstaller utility state:“If you installed Avast in a different folder than the default, browse for it.”

I have not installed it. I’m trying to install it for the first time. It is tough to uninstall something that is not installed. The only “avast” on this PC is the setup.exe file I downloaded

Get and run Farbar > http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/farbar-recovery-scan-tool/
Attach FRST.txt and Adition.txt to your next post.

Hope this helps.

Hi you need to run FRST from an administrator account

Here are the files run from an administrators account.

You will need to remove any other av before installing a new one.

You still have Vipre installed.

I was going to uninstall Viper after I installed Avast. At your suggestions, I’ll dump Viper and try again. Fingers crossed.

Ok, good luck.
I hope it will solve the problem.

If not, don’t worry we still will be here to help you solve it.

I finally got it installed, but a day later I uninstalled it. Besides noticeably slowing boot-up and browser launch times, the program gave me problems connecting to some of my favorite well-known sites, such as Huffington Post. The final straw was problems importing e-mail from my ISP mail service to my PC.

Too bad I had already paid for a two year subscription to the upgraded version before the problems became intolerable. I’ll chalk it up as a tuition payment to the school of hard knocks.

To those who tried to help, Thank You. You all seem like good people.

Please do not tell anyone. We try hard to look like bad guys ;D

Guess you haven’t read this thread (properly).
We already spotted the problem and solved it.
The problem was that Vipre was not removed before installing avast.
