Can't link device with online account

Trying to link my device Motorola Razr M XT905 with my online account, but I keep getting an error saying that my installation of the mobile security is too old. When I try to update, it tells me like Avast updated 1 hr ago. Any ideas?

Exact same problem with a HTC Rezound. Submitted a support ticket. Will return if get a useful answer.

Here is the solution suggested by support. Have not tried it yet:


Please try to uninstall the current avast! Mobile Security and avast! Anti-Theft and install it back again.

To remove avast! Anti Theft just follow these steps:

  • Open avast! Mobile Security
  • Tap on Setttings
  • Scroll down and then tap on “avast! Anti-Theft removal wizard”
  • Now just follow the uninstallation wizard to remove Anti-Theft from your device

Now when anti theft is uninstalled just remove the last part of avast! Mobile Security:

  • Open ‘Settings’ from All Apps screen in your Android phone.
  • Select the option ‘Applications’, then ‘Manage Applications’.
  • Select ‘avast! Mobile Security’.
  • On te next screen ‘Uninstall’ and then ‘OK’ to confirm unistallation of avast! Mobile Security
  • Once the uninstallation of avast! Free Mobile Security is complete select ‘OK’ to get back to Manage Applications screen.

To install avast! Mobile Security please follow these steps:

  • open Play Store in your Android device
  • search for avast! and then select avast! from the list of found apps
  • tap on ‘Install’ button
  • then tap on ‘Accept & Download’ and downloading should automatically begin
  • after the download is finished just open avast! and follow on screen instructions to finish the installation
