If you read my thread 58459.0, I have been trying to load IS suite onto PC laptop, Vista Home Premium 32-bit. I continue to get the message that an “error occurred” while loading. I started attempting with 5.0.462, and am now getting same error with 5.0.507. I have tried this at least 12 times, using the “aswclear5” utility between each attempt. I have no other AV program loaded. As I said in the other thread, I saved the install log to a .doc file. Is there anyone who is willing to look at it to see if it offers any clues? Did I purchase a program that is so sketchy that I have to be a tech (I am not) just to use it? 5.0.462 is running fine on my desktop, Vista Home Premium 64-bit, Core 2 Duo, but neither build will load successfully on my laptop. HELP!!!
My question is, where to you get verison 507? I’m stuck at 492 and cannot update to 507 via the auto-update, so I want to download the entire Avast Internet Suite (version 507) and install that way because for some reason, I cannot get 492 to update. It keeps telling me it’s at the latest version, yet when you check it, the version is 492 and it keeps telling me there is a new version (507) ready to download. ???
Rather than try to update, uninstall your current version using the avast! uninstall utility, go to the website, and download the current version there, which is 5.0.507. This is what I have been “trying” to do, but I can’t load any avast! product on this computer. Good luck!
I tried that but the version I get when I download Avast Internet Security Suite from the Avast website is the .462 version. I cannot find the .507 anywhere.
The multi-lingual download is 5.0.507. Direct link is http://files.avast.com/iavs5x/setup_ais.exe.
The English version thru Download.com is still at 5.0.462 as of today, after following the link from http://www.avast.com/internet-security#tab3.
Thank you! That fixed my problem. Now we’ll see if it occurs again when they release the next version. Hopefully not.
