Can't move to chest: Win32:Hybris-44 [Drp]

Avast found a “malware dropper” but I can’t move it to quaranteen regarding “not enough space on the disc”. Does anyone know what to do? I’ve made more space on all discs but it doesn’t help. I’m not very good at computers, so please reply as understandable as possible. Thanks!

Info:

Filename: C:\pagefile.sys
Virusname: Win32:Hybris-44 [Drp]
Type: Dropper
VPS-version: 100305-0, 2010-03-05

Error message: Not enough space on disc. Could not “work” the C:\pagefile.sys-file.

Help, please!

Best regards,

Mette

Hi Mette,

Welcome to the forum,

If you are not able to quarantine this malware file, then you need to clean it out.

Please download ComboFix and then please follow the instruction of How to use ComboFix.

Please take a note, when you running ComboFix please don’t do any activity related with applications usage.

Hope can solved your problem.

Cheers,

Are you using Avast4 or 5? This problem may occurred with Avast4 and VPS 100302-1 or later. But this problem should be fixed in last VPS 100305-0. Does problem persists after computer reboot?

Hi both of you,

haven’t dared to restart computer yet, should I?

Downloaded Combofix but need to wait for a printer to be done first. Do you know what this malware’s “function” is? I’m a photographer with loads of images on external drives - worried…could it move there and infect those?

Mette

And another question; should I backup my newest stuff (which I haven’t backuped) before I run this ComboFix?

Thank you so much for helping me! Greatly appreciated!

Avast version 4.8 - should I upgrade?

generally - ignore all detections on pagefile.sys (or do it better - don’t even scan it, because it can contain binary garbage that can trigger various detections)…

OK, I’VE FOLLOWED INSTRUCTIONS AND HERE’S THE LOG FILE!
