Cant open Avast to run scans

I have Free Version. Running Win 10 on PC. Suddenly cant open Avast to run scans. Coincides with suddenly cant connect to 3 different video games on line as well. Games load but wont connect. (can see it in task manager) Wanted to run a virus scan but avast wont open as well. What would be blocking me from connecting to avast and games? Can open google and works fine but cant connect other programs. Please help!!

There isn’t much detail to work with. I use Avast Free, and on latest version of Windows 10.

I rarely if ever run on-demand scans:
With a resident on-access antivirus like avast, the need for frequent on-demand scans is much depreciated. For the most part the on-demand scan is going to be scanning files that would be otherwise be dormant or inert. If they were active files then the on-access file system shield would be scanning them before being created, modified, opened or executed.

I used to have avast set to do a scheduled weekly Quick scan, set at a time and day that I know the computer will be on. But I have ceased this practice for some time now, based in the above.

I have just run a targeted scan and that ran to successful completion.

Have you tried to Repair Avast.
Menu>Settings>Troubleshooting>[Repair App]

In windows settings there is no trouble shooting option. The issue with Avast seems to be part of a bigger problem. Other programs like games will load in memory but wont connect. Can see this in control panel. Steam games, world of tanks, and bluestack games. All have been working fine, then suddenly they all stopped connecting. I figure if one gets fixed they will all be fixed. All of them are allowed through my firewall. Recently downloaded 2 windows updates.

Thank you for responding.

No not from Windows.

Launch the Avast app,
then from the Avast User Interface do this:

I also tried to open Avast to reach settings but window opens blank and wont connect.
