Epson says I have a Trojan and they want 250.00 to fix it. Here are the logs you said I needed to run.
Epson says I have a Trojan and they want 250.00 to fix it.How do they know you have a trojan?
Without FRST and an idea as to why Epson think you are infected I can do nothing
I went to the epson help center. I talked to “Chris” in India. I had to down load a program and enter a key that let him rummage around in my computer. He ping’ed and rummaged around and opened a file that he said showed that a Trojan was on my machine and he said I needed to go to Microsoft store and order support for one year at 199.00 a year or 599 for all time and then for another 50 bucks he would install it and remove the virus. I thought I would check with you folks first. I ran Malwarebyte and aswmbr from avast and sent the logs I think you said you wanted/needed. also, my wife’s Apple can print just fine off the printer. :-[ so I could use some help if you can. many thanks,
Roland
ps. what is FRST?

Epson says I have a Trojan and they want 250.00 to fix it.Sounds a lot like the avast phone support. >:(
The Problem was I lost connection to my wireless wf-2540 Epson printer, but my wife’s apple ipad could still print. thinking that I would go to Epson and get drivers I called the epson support number and got sent to India and a guy named Chris, yeah right, and he told my I had a trojan and needed microsoft protection. I told him no and came here. I have run the FRST fix with the lines provided and will send the log file. help me Obiwan

OK first thing to determine is … Does windows recognise that you have a wireless printer. Bear in mind that the printer will need to be switched on for windows to see it
Look in devices and printers
Well, dang, It was there and I removed it and added it and it didn’t work and I just did it again and its working. I tried it twice. well it seems to be working and I didn’t even have to kill a chicken… go figure. ok. close me out for now. unless I start having problems again. Thanks for the help.

Just watch it for a day or so
