Can't receive email

When I try to receive email in Outlook with the Avast email scan turned on I receive the following message.

Task ‘FSI email - Sending and Receiving’ reported error (0x800CCC90) : ‘Your incoming (POP3) e-mail server has reported an internal error. If you continue to receive this message, contact your server administrator or Internet service provider (ISP). The server responded: ? RR concurrent connections limit in avast exceeded (processes:emproxy.exe[6])’

How do I change the concurrent connections limit? If I can’t is there a way to scan the email after I receive it without scanning the whole computer?

Thanks, jim

I finally figured this one out myself. Just in case anyone else is stymied, remember to turn off any previous email virus scan you were using. My previous scanner had expired but did not turn off automatically. As soon as I disabled the previous scanning application the email came through. Jim

Disabling is not enough in most cases… sooner or later… problems and conflicts.
Was your old antivirus AVG or Norton?
