while visiting my father I downloaded avast software.
It used to be that you would get an email with a license key. I think that has changed now.
The software kept bugging him to upgrade so he spent $39 (on his limited income) and he was never able to register the software. The message keeps telling him the software is about to expire.
It’s hard to help an 82 yr old from several states away over the phone but he has no “registration” page, only a “subscription” page.
He can’t find a “register” button anywhere.
Any kind of help would be appreciated, thanks.
hey is he trying to registry for the free version of avast? if so fallow on of this guide.
good luck
YES, following that guide. See where it says “registration information” - his doesn’t say that - it says “subscription information”
He can’t find a "register button anywhere in the software.
I think he has the Internet Security. Then you must follow these instructions: https://support.avast.com/index.php?_m=knowledgebase&_a=viewarticle&kbarticleid=1095&nav=0,1,692

Then it would appear that he has either avast Pro or avast Internet Security and that has Subscription not Registration (of the free version).
So he is either using the trial version of one of those products or at some point has paid a subscription ?
the software says he has a trial version, but he paid $39 for Something and received a CD. I had him install that CD, so I’m not sure what he has. Very difficult dealing with him so many miles away. I’ll try that other link, thanks.
If he has the Pro-version then follow this link: https://support.avast.com/index.php?_m=knowledgebase&_a=viewarticle&kbarticleid=1084&nav=0,1,693

He should have received an email with either a link to download the license file (license.avastlic) or that file attached to the email. That file needs to be saved to his hard disk and then double click on that file and that will complete the subscription process (or follow the instructions on the link DJBone gave).
