I have just installed Avast on my XP system. When I try and register it says “the online content is unavailable. please check your internet connection and try again”. If I try and register via Settings>Registration then I simply get an endless turning wheel and then it disappears. I have registered via my web-browser - hence I am on this forum - but if I click on Sign In then I simply get an endless turning wheel. All of my internet stuff works completely fine, even Avast updates itself ok. Any solutions???
Download and use the license file:
https://www.avast.com/resend-license-paid.php
Thanks Eddy, but because I am not actually registered then Avast cannot re-send me a license because I don’t have one - because I can’t register on XP. When I said I had registered via my web-browser, that was just to become a registered user of the forum - it seems that doesn’t give me a license of any kind.
Any other ideas? Anyone?
Indeed, registration on this webboard and registering avast are two different things.
What version of avast is it that you want to use ?
its the free version i am pursuing at the moment, if that helps…
great - yes this works!! thanks so much.
What a shame so many XP issues are arising with new versions of software, esp since XP still has a massive user base (its still a great system).
A massive user base doesn’t change the fact that XP is Old and unable to keep up with new technology. Time for a transplant.
And who is gonna give all those people a new system so they can run a new(er) OS ? ???
You don’t need a new system you just need to upgrade to a new OS.
All our old XP’s at the Senior Center are now happy running Windows 8.1 and will soon be running Windows 10.
Tell that to all the people where even Windows 7 won’t install because the cpu doesn’t support SSE2 instructions and when the motherboard doesn’t support a cpu that can handle SSE2.
Many computer that can’t run Eindows 7 have no problems running windows 8.
Eddy, I converted these computer from XP to 8 so I’m not basing it on something that I haven’t done.
