Can't remove Facebook Shortcut

It’s said in economic, “There’s no free lunch.”

That goes for the Avast “Free” Secure Browser.

Over and over and over again I’ve removed the Facebook shortcut on my Avast browser and it always returns. Merely refresh the page after “removal” and it’s back. Close the browser, return later and it’s back.

Is there a way to permanently remove Facebook’s shortcut from this browser?

Thanks for any help.

If you follow the link you provided I’m the last one to post. Someone supposedly from Avast said it’s fixed and they will be implementing it. As I asked, if it’s fixed why not implement it?

Someone is being dishonest concerning this issue. I want Facebook gone from my shortcuts but removing it does not work.

Might be time to find another browser. Personally, I’m running out of options I feel are secure.

Thanks for your help.

Hi, I’m running the latest version of ASB (88.0) and don’t have any Facebook shortcut here.

Avast Secure Browser is up to date
Version 88.0.7843.105 (Official Build) (64-bit)

I can’t find another way to block Facebook in its entirety. Some browsers have that feature, if Avast has it I can’t find it.

Thanks again.

You could try a clean reinstall of ASB. See/Follow Bob’s instructions.

Thanks again. I tried the reinstall/clean install and Facebook remains. I deleted it twice, it returned both times.

I’m going to start searching for an alternative.

A screenshot may be helpful.

I’ve explained myself fairly well and the thread indicates that. But if it will please you than here is my screenshot.

Have you tried removing it?

Hover your mouse over the shortcut select the three-dot menu and select delete.

Have you even bothered to read the thread??? Of course I tried to remove it, this isn’t my first rodeo.

Don’t respond, you’re not trying to help, you’re being a nuisance.

Getting huffy isn’t going to solve the problem.
Like Asyn I don’t have that problem and it also isn’t something that appears to be prevalent.
If you don’t like my replies, simply ignore them. That’s your prerogative.
When you did the clean install, did you try the tool offered by Avast when the normal clean install doesn’t work?
You can find that tool here, https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=230288.msg1531315#msg1531315

Have you tried:
Settings>Appearance
scroll down and hit “Advanced”
then:
Sponsored Content
toggle “Allow sponsored content to be displayed” OFF

The link you sent:

504 Gateway Time-out

I rest my case!!

The 504 error usually happens when a Spammer is being banned.
The link works just fine. I’d also suggest you take a look at what rocksteady just suggested.
