After the false-positive madness with twitch.tv and others (https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=197572.0) i got a lot of files in the virus container. I checked them again today, every file is clean, click on restore and nothing happens. The files are still in the virus container. Does anyone know what to do? What happens to the files if i re-install Avast?
Because if i add some items to chest, new folder is sometimes created in folder Temp/avast
And this folder is detected by full system scan as virus if there is real virus.
So if i wipe Temp folder i lose all data in virus chest?
The two have absolutely no bearing, avast unpacks or sends copies of files there to be scanned, originals would be sent to the virus chest if found to be infected. On completion of the scan the contents of the avast folder should be cleared with exception to one or two administrative files AvLock.txt and perhaps one other.
If you have files in there the file name format is in this unpxxxxxx.tmp style/format. If you have lots of flies like this the most likely cause is conflict with another security based program.
How do you know that it appeared in the avast folder, as I said they would normally be in the file format I gave ?
The file shield should use the file format I mentioned, the only other option may have been the web shield placing it there, but again I feel it have been removed on completion of the scan.
But as I said it shouldn’t remain in the temp avast folder, if iy does then you have some conflict interfering with avast clearing the folder after the scan.
NOTE: this is drifting way off topic “Can’t restore files.”
It is all about this topic, because wiping temp folder and cannot restoring files can matter. It was only my idea. Anyway is not dangerous when Avast puts malicious file without encryption on disc? It maybe happened when i used scan inside chest, but this still not corectly working.
No it isn’t the same, Restoration of files from the virus chest (is not restoring from the temp avast folder.
Currently there appears to be an issue in restoring files from the chest, nothing to do with the temp avast folder.
As I have said files should be cleared from that location on completion of the scan. Which is why I posted the image of the contents of my temp avast folder.
