Can't "safely remove" my USB thumb drive anymore

Hi,

For some time (I would say a week) I haven’t been able to “safely remove” my USB thumb drive anymore.

Process Explorer says AvastSvc.exe has a handle on the drive (see screenshot).

Has there been a recent change in Avast w.r.t. handling of removable drives?

This is a severe issue – I can’t just shutdown the system every time I want to eject a drive!

Any clue?

TIA for your help.

Hi, known issue. Will be fixed in V19.2.

Thanks for the prompt reply.

Good to know!

Is there an ETA?

For now I’ll stick to:

removedrive i: -e

You’re welcome. (ETA: probably next week)

Thanks! Will hold my breath :stuck_out_tongue:

Be my guest.

I hate to say, but the problem is still there…

See attached screenshots.

According to the beta changelog, it should be fixed.
See: https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=225069.0

Sure, but Process Explorer does show that AvastSvc.exe has an open handle on the device, thus preventing removal.

Where do we go from here?

Maybe with my developer hat on I can help troubleshoot the issue?

Repair Avast:

  1. Avast GUI → Settings → Troubleshooting
  2. Click on ‘REPAIR APP’.
  3. Follow instructions.
  4. Reboot.

I can confirm that this problem is not fixed.

Hi, Alikhan already forwarded it.

I also still get the problem – see screenshots.

As said, it has been forwarded, but it’s weekend - be patient.
