I tried scanning for network threats today and got a message saying “We couldn’t finish scan. Please scan again later.” Despite waiting, every scan will result in my getting that message after a period of regular scanning. I was able to run it just fine yesterday. What’s going on and how do I fix it?
I’m getting the same message. It run just fine for me yesterday too.
Same thing for me. Maybe it’s a bug that will be patched in next update ???
What avast version are you using ?
- this was previously a problem in earlier builds.
- however that was rectified in the latest regular release of avast 2015 10.4.2233 if memory serves me well.
That said I’m currently running a beta build 11.1.2238 of avast 2016 and the actual scan duration is much greater than has been in the past, but at least it completed (I thought it might have been stalled.
I have also run a Smart Scan (which included the scan for Network threats) and that appeared to be almost quicker than the Network scan on its own.
I’m running avast 2015 10.4.2233 with virus definitions 151029-2. Hopefully the next update will resolve this.
Strange I thought that build resolved that.
In the beta I’m using there has just been an update for the Network scan - so I’m about to test that after reboot.
Same problem, worked OK last time I tried, but will not run properly today.

This needs to be fixed. Smart Scan isn’t working properly either. When I click on resolve it shows …see screenshot.
Already mentioned already fixed in the current beta version. You will have to wait for the regular release if you aren’t comfortably using the beta versions.
I am having the same problem. My network scan looks like it goes 100% of the way through, but then gives me this message: “We couldn’t finish scan. Please scan again later.” I am using Avast free program version: 10.4.2233 “In memory of Jan Koubek”;virus definitions version: 151030-1. I have not tried the Smart Scan.
Hi.
I´m using avast pro antivirus 10.4.2233 same problem here started a few days ago. Before that it was the problem with the message about secure DNS server. That´s been solved hopefully this will be to.
Hi DavidR,
Do we have any target production release date for the current Beta? I have only just started with a wireless router and am still wary about incursions, which the Network scan would seem likely to detect.
Regards,
Ken
Nope. But as we’re on RC2 already, it should be out rather soon.
I’m just an avast user like yourself, so I’m not privileged on release dates, but as Asyn mentioned we are quite a long way through beta testing - so hopefully it shouldn’t be too long.
As advised by DavidR in another thread on this subject, I have updated to the new 11.1.2241 and it appears to have cured the problem.
Thanks David
Ken
You’re welcome, good to see your problem is resolved.
Sorry I hadn’t realised that there are two threads running on this subject. It is after the update to 11.1.2241 that I am having this problem. I have Avast Premier and am using Firefox 42.0 and have Windows 8.1.
Just tried a repair and that has done nothing either. Still on 43% of Smart Scan and stuck on Network Threats. As stated in the other thread I cannot run Network Threat Scan from the Scans page either.
Any ideas out there?
This topic when started was on the 10.4.2233 I believe - one or more of the respondents were using 11.1.22xx beta builds.
But one of the later builds RC2 & 3 appeared to resolve this, but it appears to have returned in the regular release 11.1.2241. As in the other topic.
Network Scan works for me. I’m using version 2241.
