Can't Send Email

Unable to send emails when Avast activated. IE.7, Windows 64 and Bell Sympatico high speed internet connection. Any ideas beyond closing Avast

Could you tell us your emal client & type, e.g. Cached-Exchange or SMTP?

Which firewall do you use?
Does your email uses SSL connection (which port is set to be used by SMTP)?

Using Bell Sympatico/Windows Outlook. SMTP and Port 110

But doesn’t Bell Sympatico use SSL (secure email), which is over and above the info you have given ?

SMTP normally uses port 25, and POP3 uses port 110, this is for the non-SSL email standards. If using SSL on these ports avast will have a problem as it can’t scan secure email.
