Can't send Mail in Eudora

I’m a new user of avast and I’ve run into a problem. I use the latest free version of eudora as my mail client and now I can’t send mail. I receive my mail fine. I ge the message " SSL Negotiation failed! You have configured this personality/protocol th reject any exchange key lengths below 0., But the negotiated exchange length is -1 Hence this established secure channel is unacceptable. Connection will be dropped cause (-6992). I used the wizard to set every thing up. I have Windows SE running on a K6 machine with 128 k of ram. What did I do wrong?

check that your SMTP server setting under options/sending mail is “localhost” or 127.0.0.1

While you at it makes sure the same for your incoming server (POP3) is also set at “localhost”

Unfortunately avast mail scanner does not support SSL and that’s way it does not work when you enable SSL in Eudora.

Thanks all for the answers. Turning off the SSL did the trick. It went right through.

Thanks again.

I’ve read everything I could find about Eudora, not being able to send, that is posted in this forum and cannot find a cure for my problem.
I can receive but not send in Eudora. I have Eudora 5.2 and avast 4. SSL is off, the mail client is correctly listed and my ISP has no clue as to what may be wrong.
