Can't send virus files to virus@asw.cz

Hi all,

I seem to be having some trouble sending files to virus@asw.cz after sticking them in the virus chest. My ISP, Btopenworld, are quite good at filtering emails with viruses for me but a couple appear to have slipped past them recently containing the Netsky.p virus which, (thankfully), Avast! spotted straight away.
I put the virus into the chest and attempt to send it for analysis via SMTP and Outlook 2003.
It goes into my outbox ok but when I try to send it I get the following message:

Your message did not reach some or all of the intended recipients.

  Subject: avast!
  Sent: 31/03/2004 16:22

The following recipient(s) could not be reached:

  'virus@asw.cz' on 31/03/2004 16:22
None of your e-mail accounts could send to this recipient.

Any ideas people? I’m using Avast! home edition and have Win XP Pro SP1.

???

ST,

I would suggest that you contact Avast Support at support@asw.cz. DO NOT SEND THE VIRUS FILE UNTIL THEY RESPOND TO YOU!
I attempted to utilize the email feature in the Chest and it would not work either.

I will try to find out if they changed the email address.

Cheers for the speedy response techie101. I’ll do that.

I’ve only been trying a couple of days but thought it was a problem at my end.

Regards.

;D

ST,

The problem may well turn out to be on your end with your ISP, however, since I could not get it to work either, then I must look into it further.

PS: Never know…I may have a problem myself. ;D

This may be a totally off-track thought about the problem – but mental free-association can get really “free” with head injury.

If you email (or try to) from the chest, does that totally bypass the email resident provider? And if not, what happens if you’re set up to check outgoing mail and it’s set for “don’t send if infected”?

does that totally bypass the email resident provider?

Er, not entirely sure what you mean by this! I’m using Outlook 2003 and when I try to email a virus from the chest it does go into the Outbox in Outlook, but then I get the error message.

what happens if you're set up to check outgoing mail and it's set for "don't send if infected"?

I can find a ‘allow sending of infected mail’ in ‘Internet Mail’ settings but this option doesn’t appear to exist for ‘Outlook / Exchange’, which is what I am using.

Still, anything else you can suggest i’ll give it a go!

;D

Ok, it was just a wild shot – I don’t use Outlook myself, so didn’t know if there’s different options in that provider from the email one.

But at least it’s a step in the process-of-elimination.

Best,
Mike

Maybe there is some problems to access the servers today…
Did you try again later? ::slight_smile:
Other users are saying the same in the forums today (http://forum.avast.com/index.php?board=2;action=display;threadid=3631)

Just tried again today. Exactly the same thing happened. The email goes into my outbox, then when I try to send / receive, I get the following mail straight away in my inbox:

Your message did not reach some or all of the intended recipients.

  Subject: avast!

The following recipient(s) could not be reached:
