My kid’s tablet doesn’t have any sim card slot (Acer A100).
it can’t simulate theft because Anti-theft claims: “Error: no sim card is present in the device”
it’s not an error, it’s on purpose but I still want anti-theft on it, it works fine with the density of freewifi national network.
Can you please update the anti-theft to something like:
IF no sim slot in the device THEN forget about checking sim card?
is the latest version installed? It should definitely work, since we have many customers with sim-less devices.
Have you tried un- and reinstalling? (best use the uninstall wizard in Mobile Security’s settings)
Unfortunately reinstalling it didn’t fix it, here are details:
Anti-theft is 3.0.6158 and no upgrade is available so I guess it’s the last one. Android is 4.0.3 (Acer make).
I followed what you said and re-installed it from Avast settings (direct download and direct write (device’s rooted), +reboot, Anti-Theft is device admin +reboot).
No issue poping
This error is coming from Anti-theft page within Avast, in the upper right corner drop down menu “simulate theft event”, I always get :
“Error: no sim card is present in the device”
Too bad this menu is only for SMS devices, “simulate theft” action is not obviously related to SMS ???
I already tried this from my.avast and it works fine, what I want is really to simulate from device for my daughter to activate it if she thinks she’s in trouble.
As I said, wifi coverage is far enough here to stick on no SIM card devices for kid’s needs.
Is it possible to implement a “simulate theft for non SMS device” in a next upgrade?
