Does this happen on every boot? Or just the first after one after the update?

It says in KB967715 http://support.microsoft.com/kb/967715

After the prerequisite updates are installed, you can use the procedures in any of the following sections to disable Autorun features:
How to use Group Policy settings to disable all Autorun features
How to selectively disable specific Autorun features
How to set the HonorAutorunSetting registry key manually

Perhaps the update you have downloaded has fixed a problem with the disable Autorun features. How this has changed things on yr system I do not know. (see following post). I have Allow All on my OA firewall and I leave at that, never go there. But I’m not saying that is good practice either.

Do you know how to selectively disable autoruns? If not, and if this is the problem, someone on the forum may help.

I thought perhaps you were talking about slow boot into Windows, which you can do something about. Say, using msconfig -there are a number or ways to do this, stopping programs from starting at boot time.
That sure looks like the problem you have got. And you will need to check that.

Also, this update is about a year old from what I can tell. Please more details.

The Autorun has nothing to do with the boot menu. That is what she’s talking about. This updates deal with how Win handles media that contain executable / accessable file and are mounted during runtime.

Since ladygaga didn’t come back here, I suppose it only happened once at reboot after update anyway, which may happen from time to time.
;D

sorry long night back and forth on avast while doing other things, which now finished.

But I think she is actual talking about the boot menu. i just thinking how to edit my post. Will do, I had breakfast first.

There is no need. She never came back… I think it’s solved. One time error… ;D

Thanks Zyndstoff.

Absolute blindspot there, in my case. Glad you were about. Even completely blank to all those malware instances involving autorun that were so common a while ago. Anyway, I think she will be back, so I edited. Not the best, but better.

Edit - couldn’t help but do it - went through my autoruns and deleted a couple leftover from uninstalled programs.
I’m beat, off to get some sleep.

thanks for the help guys and Zyndstoff was right because it only occurs ones thanks again!!!

;D

Golden rule: always reboot first - 99% of all errors go away.

Good to know, have fun!
