Can't turn Firewall on

I keep getting message Firewall is off, can’t be turned on…I thought the product I bought included firewall, so am I getting what I paid for? Doesn’t seem like it. Also keep getting popup my browsing is not private. What’s up?

Repair Avast:

  1. Control Panel → Add/Remove programs → Avast
  2. Click on ‘Repair’.
  3. Follow instructions.
  4. Reboot.
