Can't Uninstall HELP

Am trying to uninstall Avast, cause it OBVIOUSLY doesn’t work, we have MANY viruses. Anywho, when I go to add/remove programs, I get these messages: “The application or DLL C:\PROGRA~1\ALWILS~1\Setup\setiface.dll is not a valid Windows image. Please check this against your installation diskette.” AND this message after clicking OK “Error loading DLL C:\PROGRA~1\ALWILS~1\Setup\setiface.dll The file or directory is corrupted or unreadable.”

This is I KNOW caused by a virus that Avast didn’t take care of, ran a PC Pitstop virus scan and it came up with a virus in Avast.

I can’t even open Avast to do anything with it. It will not run. I no longer have a desktop icon or a program folder with Avast in it, I can only find it on the computer by doing a search for it. So My question is this, aside from reformatting my hard drive and wiping everything out, HOW do I fix this and get this OFF my computer. Tried doing a system restore and I can’t even restore.

This is about to tick me off to no end.

Uninstall avast, delete the reg key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\ALWIL Software and reinstall avast.

It sounds like avast may not have installed correctly in the first place.

It wont let me uninstall, I get those errors when I try to uninstall from the add/remove programs. I cant access avast AT all in any way shape or form… How do you uninstall it when it wont let you do it HA

Like David, I think you got a bad install for whatever reason. Try the un-installer listed on the website …

… after which restart your computer and then try a fresh install of Avast!.
