Can't update Avast 4.8 Pro to vers 5

hello,

I’ve got a perfectly legal Avast! 4.8 pro licence, but, till now, if I launch the update operation, Avast still stays on 4.8 (4.8.1388 to be more precise). Why the update process doesn’t reach version 5 ?
I read somewhere in a forum that Avast 5 is not compatible with ADNM ; but I’m not ADNM.
Thanks to give me a way to upgrade to 5.

If you run the v5 setup over your installation, you’ll upgrade.
If it fails, I suggest an installation from the scratch:

  1. Download the latest version of avast! Uninstall Utility and save it.
  2. Download the latest avast! version and save it.
  3. Uninstall avast from Control Panel (if possible). If, for any reason, you can’t run it, try booting in Safe Mode and doing it from there. Anyway, boot after that.
  4. Run the avast! Uninstall Utility saved on 1. If, for any reason, you can’t run it, try booting in Safe Mode and doing it from there. Anyway, boot after you’ve run it.
  5. Install avast! using the setup saved on 2. Boot.
  6. Register your free copy or add the license key (converted from v4 to v5, check website) for Pro.
  7. Check and post the results.

I take it that you mean avast pro 4.8.1368, as that is the current 4.8 version not 4.8.1388 ?

The update to avast 5.0 can’t be achieved from the avast 4.8 Update process as when it checks it will find that the latest 4.8 version is the one that you have. So you have to download the 5.0 version first as Tech mentioned.

  • avast! 5 Pro license convert from 4.8 Pro license. Try http://www.avast.com/resend-license.php now, fill in the form giving your email and 4.8 Pro License key and they will send the new license file to you (presumably it will check you have a legit 4.8 Pro license first).
