Can't update, can't uninstall, can't do anything.

Okay, so I recently had to re-install windows 7. My computer was super messed and now that that is fixed I can’t figure out what to do with Avast.

Right now it has the free version and I have a working license but every time I go to do the update it says is required, it gets to the point in the download it says, “Downloading File: prod-,vpx.dld” and it just sits there doing nothing.

I’ve stopped the update, tried to uninstall and re-install but it keeps saying that I can’t uninstall it. I cannot do anything with it.

No other security installed, Avast internet security, it’s currently free but I’m trying to get my paid version back. My clean install of wins 7 has never had any other AV.

Download Avast Internet Security: https://files.avast.com/iavs9x/avast_internet_security_setup.exe
Follow instructions: https://www.avast.com/uninstall-utility (Run this tool for all prior installed Avast versions…!!)
Reinstall Avast with the downloaded installer from point 1.
Reboot.
